There are few artists that evoke the ’80s more than Culture Club, the new wave band led by fashion icon Boy George. From 1982 to 1986, the British band released a string of hit singles, including “Do You Really Want to Hurt Me,” “Karma Chameleon,” “Time (Clock of the Heart)” and “Miss Me Blind.” In that short period of time, Culture Club put out four landmark albums and became an indelible part of  80s80s Love. If a movie wants to evoke the time period, one of the easiest and most recognizable ways to do that is with a Culture Club song.

Personal troubles and the pressures of fame led the band members to go their separate ways in 1986, and Boy George has enjoyed a successful solo career since then. But Culture Club has remained a vital force, with numerous reunions over the years, along with a new album in 1999. The band’s latest reunion began in 2014, with extensive touring and recording sessions for another new album, which is still in the works. Their music may be quintessentially ’80s, but they’re still looking ahead to the future.
